74 - I work from home now
I work from home now. That’s a little odd - I’m basically the News Editor for Pocket Gamer which means I write news about DS, PSP, iPhone and mobile phones while sitting in my house and playing Yakuza 3.
It means I can do stuff like watch The Pacific, update my Twitter, eat some skips and go to the toilet without inputting a code.
But it’s not without its setbacks. There’s no clear divide of “I am in the office, thus at work!” and “I am in my house, thus not at work!”. It all kind of merges into one, so I feel guilty if I slack off - even though its 7pm.
I don’t want to get beholden to Skype, constantly checking it to make sure my editor isn’t shouting at me, checking my emails, my Twitter and my Google Reader for news. I have to have boundaries - I have to have a life outside of videogame news you know?
Like playing videogames.
But hey, it’s my first day - I’m still getting the feel for the place, for the people and the work culture. I’m sure it’ll get a bit easier. Toodles.
